March Right into Seamless Getaways Retreat!

A new work room is being added to Seamless Getaways as you read this post. I’d like to introduce you to a few people that are making that happen! Marty, general contractor white t-shirt, is a magician in repurposing space and making custom pieces for quilters, scrapbookers, and crafters in general. He has been on this project since the beginning of Seamless Getaways transformation. I am impressed on how much he understands our needs and even recently sent me a picture of repurposing furniture for quilts. I can’t wait to share some of the unique items in this space that he is creating.

Michelle, a rose among the thorns some may say…LOL, had the vision of what this home could be as a retreat. She can use a drill, hang a picture, and pick out the perfect pillow to make you feel at home. She measured layouts, repurposed cabinets, found the right fixtures, hung pictures and so much more. She is quite comfortable with a drill in her hand. Michelle was born and raised in Pontiac but now runs her own interior design business in Las Vegas.

Todd is new to this team. Todd’s enthusiasm for creating functional accents is incredible. He even acquired the perfect walnut railings for our custom handrail!

What I’m most proud of is these three successful businesspeople are former students. I did not have anything to do with their success, but I’m proud to do business with them. “When the student becomes the teacher…” is so true! They’ve made recommendations; Don and I have trusted their expertise and they have delivered! They have a special place in my heart! You will be able to conveniently roll your machines into this new area and begin sewing, scrapbooking, and crafting. There will be the same design wall space, adjustable wooden tables, and so much more tailored specifically for your use and comfort. I can’t wait to share pictures with you when it will be available in April!

March 16 is World-Wide Quilting Day. We are celebrating this day with an Open Retreat! Don’t have six of your closest friends that share your hobby? Sign up for an “Open Retreat” at Seamless Getaways March 15, 16, and 17! You may sew, quilt, scrapbook, or read a book! Meet people that share your hobby and become friends! $175/3 Day and 2 nights. *New*          One Block Wonder with Gloria, June 21-23

You will love this unique method of designing and creating quilts.  Instead of starting with a particular pattern or design and then trying to find fabric that will fit that pattern, this approach begins with the fabric or panels:  the fabric/panel is the key element.  Kaleidoscope blocks – each one unique – are produced by aligning the printed design on several layers of fabric/panels and then cutting and sewing triangles together.  Just as the mirrors in a kaleidoscope reflect and repeat an image, each triangle repeats color and pattern to create a new design for each block.  Once all the blocks are made, you begin to design your quilt.

Join us at Seamless Getaways and to begin this fun-filled adventure.  It is so much fun twirling each triangle to see what kaleidoscope we have and what design we come up with.  The sky is the limit!

Gloria, is an award-winning quilter/teacher from Top Shelf Quilts in Mokena, IL, with 50 years of sewing/quilting experience. She will walk you through creating this show stopping quilt!
