Fall Into Creativity at Seamless Getaways!
Updated: 20 minutes ago
There’s something special about fall at Seamless Getaways. The leaves are changing, the days are getting cooler and the retreat room starts to feel extra cozy as everyone gathers around the tables to create. I love looking around the room and seeing quilts taking shape, fabrics being shared, stories being told and new ideas coming to life. Fall just seems to make creativity feel a little more inviting.

Inside this month’s newsletter, we’re celebrating fall creativity, a beautiful Halloween collage, my recent trip to Montana and a very special part of what makes Seamless Getaways feel like home. So, grab a cup of something cozy and read about what’s happening at Seamless Getaways!
A Little Halloween Magic in Every Stitch

This month’s featured quilt comes with plenty of personality! Heather M. created her “Jack the Pumpkin” Halloween collage at Seamless Getaways, and I just love all the little details that
make this quilt come together.
The crows caught my eye right away. Heather created them using tiny scraps of fabric, and the detail is absolutely beautiful. Then there’s Jack’s playful smiling face, the stalk of corn and all the little touches in the background that bring the entire collage to life.

It’s such a fun reminder of what I love about collage quilting. You can take little pieces of fabric that might otherwise be overlooked and turn them into something completely unique.
A Creative Trip to Montana
Last month, I had the opportunity to travel to Billings, Montana to renew my certification as a Certified Laura Heine Instructor. One of the highlights was spending time with Laura at her shop, Fiberworks, and taking her two-day Gingerbread Street class alongside quilters from across the United States.

The quilt I’m holding in the photo is Laura’s newest pattern, Gingerbread Street. It’s filled with old-fashioned candy, charming houses and so many creative little details that make you smile as you look at each one.
I always love learning from Laura and seeing what new ideas she has dreamed up. There’s something inspiring about being in a room full of quilters who are all excited to learn, create and share ideas. I came home with plenty of inspiration and, of course, a few new ideas I’m excited to share with my own students!

New Roof, Same Cozy Getaway!
We’re always making improvements at Seamless Getaways to make your stay as comfortable as possible. And this time, we made a pretty big one… Seamless Getaways just got a new roof!

A new roof is one of those things you don’t really notice until you need it. Thankfully, my husband likes to plan ahead! I appreciate that about him because I’d much rather replace the roof before water starts dripping on our guests. I told him a new roof is a little like buying expensive underwear… you may not see it, but it’s an important part of keeping everything together!
So, while you may not notice our new roof when you arrive, just know that it’s one more way we’re taking care of our retreat home and making sure it’s ready for many more creative getaways!
The Little Things That Make Our Retreat Feel Like Home
One of the things I love most about Seamless Getaways is how our guests look out for one another. We’ve shared extra fabric, rulers, rotary cutters and even those little plug-ins that somehow always seem to get left at home! I also keep extra sewing machines available when someone’s machine decides to stop cooperating.
That spirit of sharing is such an important part of what makes Seamless Getaways feel like home. Our guests become friends, and their return visits truly feel like a homecoming.
Recently, though, I was reminded that not everyone understands that the things available for guests to use are meant to stay at the retreat. One of my collectible Featherweight sewing machines was taken from the basement along with its attachments. I discovered it was missing when I went to get it for a guest who needed a bobbin case.
I’ll be honest, this hurts my heart. I keep those machines and supplies available because I want to help make your retreat as easy and enjoyable as possible. When someone forgets something or their machine stops working, I’m happy to share what I have so they can keep creating.
I know this was the choice of one person, and I don’t want it to overshadow the many wonderful guests who have shown kindness, generosity and respect for our retreat home. Thank you to all of you who help make Seamless Getaways the welcoming place it is. Your kindness and support mean so much to me. And, in case you happen to know someone looking to sell a Featherweight sewing machine, I may be in the market for one at a reasonable price. I already have a case! 😊
Thank you again for continuing to make Seamless Getaways a place where creativity, friendship and a little time away from everyday life can come together. I hope your fall is filled with colorful projects, creative inspiration and plenty of time around the quilting table.
I hope to see you at retreat soon!
