Join Maria Conrad in creating this beautiful, quilted sweatshirt jacket. The picture does not do justice to what it is in person! Maria will walk you through the process and you will leave wearing your finished jacket! Be sure to bring an extra project to work on in case you finish early! Price of Retreat: $175/person (3 days/2 nights + Lunch on Friday) Paid to Seamless Getaways Price of Weekend Class: $75/person paid to Maria Conrad. Maria will be available all weekend to help you complete your jacket. There are only 7 openings for this class, register early! If you are thinking January is an uncertain time to travel, be confident in knowing there is a full refund should you need to cancel. Supply List: Sewing Machine ¼” foot for piecing Walking foot for quilting Rotary mat, cutter and ruler 4” square or 6” square recommended for blocks 24” long ruler recommended for cutting Length of Fabric pieces if using yardage Sewing thread to match fabrics Machine quilting thread to coordinate with fabrics Pins Seam Ripper (serger or surgical seam ripper) for taking apart sweatshirt Sewing Scissors Measuring tape Fabric marking pen (to mark center of garment and quilting lines), Painters tape can be substituted. Sweatshirt Requirements and Suggestions: Sweatshirt should coordinate with cotton fabrics you have chosen for blocks (remember sleeves of sweatshirt will remain exposed) Sweatshirt must have set in sleeves Choose a size 1 or 2 sizes larger than you normally wear, keeping in mind some sweatshirts shrink more than others, and you will lose 1” on each side of torso for new seams of garment. And once garment is quilted there will be “no give” or stretch to bodice. Fabrics for blocks: About 3 yards of 100% cotton coordinating fabrics for a Railfence pattern 3 different fabrics minimum (1 yd a piece) and up to 12 fabrics (fat quarters). This is based on an XL size sweatshirt. Please add extra if needing larger sweatshirt. You will also need approximate 27” square to make continuous binding for finishing edge of garment. (suggest ¾ of yard) There is prep work before your weekend retreat. The prep work instructions will be sent after you have registered.
